Viper has just released one of the coolest apps yet. There have been quite a few fake videos of people using their iphones to do all sorts of stuff with their cars but this one is the real deal. Check the video out after the jump.
This is pretty cool since range is not an issue since it sends the message over the cell. However You do need their alarm which costs $300 and you pay an annual fee of $30. If you add a few things to the system and you would have the best app ever.
First add a “locate my car” like the locate my iphone feature. It would be like the locate my phone that mobile me offers. You could bring up a map and see where you car is. This would be great if you forget where you parked or if the car was stolen. It shouldn’t be too hard to do you just need a small GPS unit added to the alarm.
In addition to finding the car they should allow for a remote kill switch. I know there would be issues with shutting the car down while moving but I’m sure they could figure a way to have it triggered once the car stops.
Second add push notifications if the alarm is triggered. This way you know as soon as something happens and can activate the kill switch. If they would add these to the package sign me up!
