It seems as there is a possible new trend, or an old one that we are just slow to pick up on, is to take VIP platforms and modify them in a racing style. I first got a hint of this when I found the Supermade Instant Gentleman body kit for the Y34. The car supposedly had an SR20 engine swap and was sporting a nice set of work wheels which I joked and said it would have looked better with my rims.
Then Vinny found another picture of the Supermade Y34 showing the engine bay. It was from the 2010 HKS Premium Day held in at the Fujui Speedway in Japan. Speedhunters has some great coverage of the event and also caught this picture of the Arena LS460 track-car. I am still trying to get some more info on the car but as of right now this picture is all I can find.

Not to be outdone at their own event HKS showed off it’s own demo car, the LS46. This is another car I am having a hard time digging up details on. From the info on Speedhunters it is fitted with a supercharger and they expect an 80-100 horsepower increase.

It seems that the Japanese are trying to build their own super sedans like the offerings from Stuttgart and Bavaria. It’s only two cars, and they are tuner company built so it’s tough to tell if this is a trend or if it is just some bored Japanese tuners with lots of money that don’t want spend their money outside the island.
No matter what it is, I’m digging it. Who knows maybe when my warranty runs out there will be the need for a new engine.
