Uncle Phils Next Mod?

rx8-computer

Some crazy dude went and hooked up his RX8 with a computer. Sounds like nothing special right, allot of cars have in car pc’s. This guy went a step further. He hooked it up to an ipod touch/iphone. Check out the video.

He can control the locks, monitor the engine rpms and other info since it’s connected to the OBD. He can even turn on and shut off the car from his phone.

We are just a few steps away from Kitt here boys. What do you say Uncle Phil? Can you do it?

I think thats a little extreme to put an rfid in your arm…. even though it is only the size of a pill…I kinda think that part is fake

this part of his mod though, is pretty awesome. atleast until someone wants to cut your arm off to get into your car.

RFID reader
An RFID reader is mounted in the back right window of the car, and when it detects an authorised RFID tag it unlocks the car and starts the engine automatically. I have an RFID tag surgically implanted in my left arm so I can unlock and start the car simply by putting my arm near the window.

In early 2008 I did a live interview on Australia’s top-rated morning news show, Sunrise, where I demonstrated the RFID implant being used to unlock the front door of my house. You can watch it online at

yeah, i just read through their wiki. Looks like a cool low power setup. Still hasnt enabled anything overly impressive though. I’ve been searching for a full live setup, that can do data logging, program my AEM EMS, and serve live security system feedback. Maybe include a live webcam. Nothing a mac mini with a 3g card couldnt do using remote desktop, and the right software.

I know this is legit. The geekmyride site goes into serious details. Held conferences and stuf on it.

I dont know if this is really legit. Everything the guy displayed can be done with a standard security system. Even the Telemetry readings werent exactly live. Just a snapshot.

Also there were other questionable things also about the motherboard. It didnt have memory, or any sort of cables for a power supply, or display screen.

Also does he keep the computer on all the time, when the ignition is off? the car’s battery would die pretty quick. Only way i guess is to keep the computer in sleep mode, and have his 3g connection turn it on.

Either way, there are car alarms now that can operate with text messages. So is there a point to this application apart from Telemetry.
