The new administration is drafting legislation that will require all new cars to get 42mpg by 2016. Car makers are going to have to sell a ton hybrids to offset sportscars.
Unless there is some magical technology out there to make fast cars not use fuel then the only “sports car” out there is going to be the tesla. I think i’m going to sound old but I am going to miss the times of muscle cars and tuner cars. It seems like the regulations are going to make it damn near impossible to have a fast car.
Thankfully they can’t retroactive the fuel regulations. It looks like the used car market is going to be the only place to get a fun car.
I’m not sure if they will allow automakers to pay and not conform. This would allow for makers like Ferrari and Lambo to continue to exist.
