We recently told you that governor leatherface signed a law that allows Red Light Cameras on state roads. They say that they are to help improve public safety and decrease accidents. The palm beach just did an article checking what happened in the first 70 days of cameras being installed at intersection in palm beach. Guess what happened?
During the first 70 days that cameras were at intersections:
–Rear-end collisions increased to five from two.
–Overall accidents increased to seven from six.
–The only injury in either period came under cameras, in a rear-end crash in March 2010.
Just for your information West Palm Beach issued 2,675 camera fines worth a third of a million dollars in March alone.
I call bullshit that they say these are for safety, they are cash cows for the private camera companies and the state. Plain and simple. West Palm said its too early to tell and it needs to be reviewed later, after they make a ton of cash.
