Well after ranting about how bad the paint on the Mitsubishi is I ordered Quixx Paint Scratch Remover. This weekend I got around to trying it.
First off I have no pictures since I could not get the scratches to show in the photos. It was partly due to the reflection off the black paint and partly due to the the size of the scratches.
First off don’t expect a magic fix especially if your fingernail gets stuck in the scratch. If your fingernail gets stuck be prepared to go and get a paint touch up kit (not included) to fix it. If your scratch is deep enough to get your fingernail caught you have to fill the scratch with the paint touch up, then sand it with the 3000 sandpaper they include.
For fine scratches they have a two stage system. Once you clean the area you then use the stage 1 cream and “rub for two minutes applying hard pressure”. Then you use the stage 2 cream and do the same. For the scratches on the hood, which were not deep enough to get you nail caught in, all came out. There was a indent left in one of them which I did not expect to magically fill in.
If the scratches still don’t come out you can wet sand lightly with the 3000 sandpaper, then use step1 and step2. I did not have do do this.
On the side of the car there was one long real scratch surrounded by a bunch of tiny ones. All of the tiny ones came out and the real one of course did not. I decided to wait and get the touch up since this scratch was pretty deep. Now I need to go out and buy some touch up and try to fix that. I still intend to call Mitsubishi and yell at them, but we will see how that goes.
I would say that the kit is pretty good and works as advertised. Before this I had tried using just wax and rubbing hard which did nothing.
I will try and figure out how to reduce the glare and show this one.
