Nobody sells more muscle than Mecum, and one 90′s show civic

Nobody sells more muscle than Mecum, that’s the slogan and they were not kidding.

This weekend I braved the cold all alone and headed out to see what was for sale at the Mecum Auto Auction held in Kissimmee. The 4 day annual event was held from Jan 28th through Jan 31st and is also broadcast on the Discovery HD Theater. Since the wife was feeling sick and I couldn’t find anyone who was able to hit the auction on Sunday with me I grabbed the SLR, my Volk sweatshirt and set off for Kissimmee. Hit the jump for some highlights and the first of my photo coverage galleries.

I had an Idea of what to expect when I got out to the auction from watching it on TV all these years, lots of vintage muscle cars and as I have said before I like muscle cars. Before I even got into the Auction area I ran across some great cars in the load in area like this Ford GT sporting carbon fiber rims.

I guess this will be ok, where are the keys?

Once I made it inside there were various tents, with cars from each day in them. Since I was there on Sunday not everything was still around but there was still plenty to look at.

And you thought your rim had dish.

As I walked around marveling at all the Mustangs, Camaros and other muscle cars I did stumble upon some really weird cars. I mean weird, like the WTF is this car below where someone took a late model car and threw an old front end on it or something. Actually it’s a 1997 thunderbird with and I will quote the listing, “The classic look of a 50′s custom car with the comfort of a newer car”. This is a resto-mod nightmare.

That looks attractive, right? How not to do a resto-mod.

Or my favorite, I didn’t expect to see that at Mecum moment, this 1998 “vintage” show civic. This car is like a time capsule back to the heyday of the 90′s show scene. The sticker on the window said that it did not sell and the high bid was $13,000. No offense is meant to the owner but I’m just saying, really?

Straight outa da 90's! $13,000, really....I'm Just saying.

Some of the other weird stuff I found was a 1973 AMC Gremlin X 2-Door, a Limo Jag an 80′s mustang and even a Delorean. Check the gallery below for the pictures.

Check back for the next part of the coverage, the Imports and Euros.
