Here comes part two of my coverage of the Mecum Auto Auction in Kissimmee. In part one I showed you some of the more “interesting” cars that I came across and now its time to see what was out there for those not interested in muscle.
The Datsun unfortunately was nowhere to be found, I really wanted to check that one out in person. The imports and euros were represented mainly by VW’s, some nice Italian’s, a few Germans and that vintage 90’s show civic.

My favorite of this bunch had to be this 1963 Ferrari 250 GTE 2-Door. The car is based off a real Ferrari 250 GTE and is a NHRA Pro Street certified car that is also street legal. The car has documented 8.50-second elapsed times. As you might expect this is not being done with the Italian engine, but instead is using a chevy big block.
I also liked this 03 Mercedes CL55 AMG, this one belonged to Rex Grossman of the Chicago Bears. The car has been upgraded with a Kleeman exhaust and some Lowenharts. Overall it’s kinda dated with the Lowenharts but clean.
The rest of the cars are in the gallery below, there are a few more pasta rockets, VW’s and that Civic

Nicholas, yeah I knew that was a real deal car. Some may say that it was wrong to do that to such a classic car, but it makes sense that it was a heap originally. I thought it was a nice car.

Don’t be fooled – the ferrari prostreet has a REAL 250 gte shell. Too many people have passed it off as a replica, this bothered me. The car was bought as only a junky shell, then restored. On the outside, it’s as real as Ferrari made it.
We were the previous owners of the car.

That 250gte is pretty sweet.. I’ve actually looked into replica kits of the 250 gt California spyder. Only thing was, the finished product of the replica kits I came across just didnt look as authentic as I expected.
But that 250gt California Roadster in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is B-E-A-U-tiful. Too bad a real one goes for over a million at the auctions…
