It has begun! Air Runners are here!

materials that came with y34 air runner suspension

I woke up this morning with my inner 9 year old yelling at me to get out of bed and get the hell to work, and lets just say it wasn’t because I was so excited about marketing. I felt like the little boy at Christmas who just knew Santa was going to bring him exactly what he wanted. What was I hoping to get? Was it a Red Ryder BB gun, nope it was my Air Runner Suspension for Project VIP.

If you had been following our tracking map you would have know that the Y34 Air Runner’s were in Jacksonville last night and set to arrive today. UPS’s slogan is “What can brown do for you?”, and what the did for me was deliver 4 boxes of pure joy and I tore into the boxes as soon as they arrived.

My first impression of the kit along with my coworker was basically “Daymn”. This is some top notch stuff. I know allot of people scoff at the $4399 MSRP for the y34 Air Runner Suspension thinking that it is way too much money but the old saying you get what you pay for really is true in this case.

While kits like the UAS have you utilize your factory suspension and basically put a bag in place of the sp
ring these come with a custom set of all new suspension components. The front assemblies are in Nissan Factory boxes and look fantastic. Everything from the construction to the quality of the welds shows the quality.

As I dug deeper into the box I came across these. They give you a new set of rear control arms and the only word I can think of that describes them properly is “beefy”.

Everything with the kit just looks so nice, I mean the compressor is even pretty.

Since we could not decide on how we were going to install it we got both a pancake tank and a standard tank. After seeing how nice the rest of the system looks I think it would be a shame not to show it off. I think we are going to try and mount everything floating along the back wall since the rear seats don’t fold down. We just need to be real careful where and what we mount to since the gas tank is there.

It looks like the gauges and switches will fit perfectly in the spots where the factory cassette player and ashtray are. We will have to tuck the cassette player up in the dash since the brain of the stereo is in it. I have seen it done before so it should not be a problem.

All and all I am just blown away by the quality of the system and can’t wait to get to work on the install. Looking at what others went through with a UAS install and a custom setup I have to say that I think the simplicity of the install has got to make air runner the top choice for air bag suspensions on the y34 or 2003 Infiniti M45.
