Could you drive a Hyundai: Part 2

genisis-top

Hyundai has sure put an attractive package together with the Genesis coup. You have the option of a Turbo 4cylinder making 210HP or a 3.8L V6 making 306HP. It is rear wheel drive and has a limited-slip rear differential. With the turbo starting at 22,000 and the V6 at 29,000 you get a hell of a performer for your money. If the aftermarket takes to this car look for turbo upgrades for the 4 and aftermarket turbo and superchargers for the V6.

With the V6 pulling a 5.9 0-60 and taking 14.5 seconds to cover the quarter mile that puts it in G37 territory. In this test the G37 did the 1/4 in 13.9 and 0-60 in 5.4 vs the Genesis at 14.5 and 6.1. Now it sounds like they had some issues with Genesis because the boys at motor trend got it to 5.5 and 14.2.

Check out the drag race between the 370Z, Mustang GT and the Genesis.

If you bring MSRP into consideration it helps the Genesis, but makes the 370Z the clear choice to me.

Genesis V6: $29,000
Infiniti G37: $44,000
Nissan 370Z: $30,000

For nearly the same price the Z looks better, is way faster (check the video) and not a Hyundai.
