According to Niccoclub the US government has decided to crackdown and “get skylines off the road”. One owner got a phone call from his wife that he “needed to leave work immediately” since there were agents from homeland security that wanted to “speak with him”.
Long story short the member owned two skylines, one older than 25 years so it was not subject to seizure and the second had extensive paperwork that showed he imported it legally. In the time it took the government to review the paperwork the owner arranged to sell and export the car outside the us.
When the agents came back to seize the car he told them it was sold and on the way out of the country. It quite an amusing story of and the whole thing can be found here.
What it comes down to is no matter how you got a skyline the US gov says they are illegal and can be seized. SO if you have one or someone is trying to sell you one and they say its “100% Legal” that is not true. The only legal skylines are the R35′s or 1986 models and older.
