Freakin Lasers for Headlights?

Do I really have a car with freakin lasers for headlights? Sorry for my doctor evil moment there but after seeing a report that BMW is working on using lasers in place of the huge and inefficient LED’s that… are commonly used in automotive lighting I couldn’t help it.

The lasers are being introduced in BMW’s I8 Concept car. Because the laser diodes are so small the size of a headlight could become damn thin and still be super bright. Even though the technology would allow for smaller headlights BMW says they have no plans to use it for that reason.

Lasers are also much more efficient. So here is a quick recap. Lasers look cool, sound cool, use less energy and allow for smaller headlights.
