Opening night the crew got together and checked out Fast Five, apparently a lot of other people did too. The movie pulled in over 83 million for the weekend. It was really nice to get a bunch of us together and the movie was a great time.
The crew has our ties to the Fast and Furious franchise, a lot of us were in the second movie. Our ties now run deeper thanks to our President, Russ, being in the latest movies as one of “Diego’s boys”.
The movie picks up where the last movie left off. The crew breaks Dom out in an unbelievable buss stunt. Let’s just say if you care about realism this is probably not the movie for you. The movie is fast paced, action packed and full of some great automotive stunts. In addition to all the horsepower and action the movie is also pretty funny.
To me the movie felt like a mix of the Oceans movies and Fast and Furious, and it worked. The actual heist aspect of the movie was well done and added a new complexity to the movie. The addition of the rock as a real adversary also helped add a new aspect to the movie.
Don’t forget to look for the Russ standing behind Vin during the scene when the Rock goes to arrest the crew at a giant car meet. Just look for the guy who looks like he doesn’t know what to do with a gun (Russ with all of your experience you could have done better). If you plan to go see the movie stay after the initial credits for an awesome extra scene that sets up another movie.
