D1 GP USA vs Japan 2005 Coverage – Jade Time Machine

drifting at d1 gp usa vs japan 2005

This time the Jadecrew Time Machine has taken us back to Irwindale Speedway. The date is December 17th 2005 and its another historic day in drifting. It was the second of the D1 USA vs Japan events and the first time a non Japanese driver and car had won a D1 Event.

Vaugh Gittin Jr. and his Falken Drift Mustang took top honors with him beating out Tatsuya Sakuma, who was driving the APP Racing Silvia S15. This was the first time that US drivers started to get any respect in the drifting world.

This time i did not have track access for the D1 USA vs Japan event so I was unable to get as close to the action as I wanted.

There are a ton of photos from the event and quite a few of the Drift Umbrella girls.

The weather was awesome, the drifting was heated and the Umbrella girls were very friendly. It doesn’t hurt that I knew Eri Moriyama from the HIN day’s either.
