Are cars getting less secure?

All those electronics in your car make it harder for thieves to steal, right? Actually cars have been getting less secure as manufacturers try to increase convenience for the drivers. As auto makers make it so you can walk up to your car, unlock it and then start your car all without even taking your key out of your pocket they also make it so high tech thieves can use a laptop to do the same.

That little lock key on our keyfobs makes us feel secure and often has us ignore the obvious things like parking in well lit areas, hiding valuables or using another antitheft tool.

Radko Soucek is a Czech born car thief who was arrested with over 150 codes on a laptop for emulating key fobs. He could walk around a car transmit a few codes and then be off with the car, that easy. Check out Jalopnik for more info on this and just how easy it is to steal your car.
