It has begun! Air Runners are here!

materials that came with y34 air runner suspension

I woke up this morning with my inner 9 year old yelling at me to get out of bed and get the hell to work, and lets just say it wasn’t because I was so excited about marketing. I felt like the little boy at Christmas who just knew Santa was going to bring him exactly what he wanted. What was I hoping to get? Was it a Red Ryder BB gun, nope it was my Air Runner Suspension for Project VIP.

This one comes from the Jade mail bag. We get lots of mail at Jade asking all kinds of things but I thought this one was worth sharing. It comes down to an unwanted accessory and the void left behind when it is removed. The original email is after the jump along with my suggestions.

Y34 Window Visor Install

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|JM|
by WBJ on Feb.07, 2010, under Jade Corner, Tech

What does 8 pages (in Japanese) plus 10ft of plastic and 20 minutes equal? New JDM Y34 window visors that’s what it equals. As I said before I was kinda surprised that these came with so much instructions when it boils down to make sure the clips go over the trim and stick on with the applied tape.

After all that making fun of how east this was, I go and make a mistake.

Project “Christine” – A Halloween Restoration Project

christine-movie

When I was just a young buck (about the age of two), I apparently began my passion for automobiles. My father says my passion began when he purchased this little convertible Corvette matchbox car, a stingray to be exact. Well as time went on it was clear I loved automobiles, “I want this toy car”, “I want that R/C car”, were frequent demand-like requests that came out of my mouth. Well when I was around 5, my parents let me watch the movie “Christine”. A “mild” horror movie written by the famous Steven King about a geeky kid who’s a senior in High School who one day see’s this Red, 1958 Plymouth Fury in a field for sale on the side of the road for $300. Well to attempt to make a long movie short, he ends up purchasing it then obsessively restores it at a local salvage yard in exchange for a job.

Volk Racing SF-Winning on Nissan 370Z

Chad’s Nissan 370Z gets it’s shoes on, 19×9.5″ +19 Volk Racing SF-Winning RMC all the way around! Wrapping the rims are TOYO T1R 255/40 and 285/35 tires. A set of Project Kics 10mm spacers and Project Kics Racing Composite R40 lugs add to the package to help the Nissan 370Z sit with a new aggressive stance. Thanks going out to Forged Performance who helped with the install, and to Mackin Industries! I think it’s blingtastic!

Nissan 370Z Lowered with Espelir Springs

Nissan 370Z Lowered with Espelir Springs

So Chad’s new project car has started.  We contacted Mackin Industries and they sent over a set of Espelir springs, and with no hesitation we headed over to Forged Motorsports for the install.  The car now sits about an inch lower up front, and half an inch in the rear. Very subtle, but definitely noticeable. The car has to settle a little bit more before getting the car aligned, so unfortunately the 19″ Volks will have to wait a little bit more to be installed as well.  Already, the car handles better than stock.  Thanks to Brian at Mackin (bduong@mackinindustries.com) and Sharif & Ryan at Forged for their help with our 2009 Nissan 370z.

LS1 RX-7 is Tuned!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|JM|
by Jaded-7 on Apr.20, 2009, under Automotive News, Jade Corner, Tech

LOL! Finally, it’s only been like 5 months! ok, maybe 6!

So, with just long tubes, a cam, and a very restrictive intake, my car put down 383hp, with 367 ft/lbs. With ~15% drivetrain loss, motor is probably cranking ~440!

I can now say will all certainty, that there really is no replacement for displacement! Turbos, are the shit, and i love them, but the bigger the motor the better!

A very common modification amongst all car enthusiasts is changing the way the motor breathes. From a simple change of the filter in the factory air box to installing individual throttle bodies, these are just two examples of the many different ways to alter the way air is introduced into a car. There are also some interesting products such as the Tornado, and the front-mounted intake simulating an intercooler. You could also fabricate your own type of air intake, using dryer duct hose or PVC piping. (full article and pictures…)

Yes of course there’s some variation between different makes and models, but we’re here to help you with the basics.
