2010 FIA GT1 Matech Competition Ford GT

When the economy was good Ford was building some crazy cars. Cars that were not for you or me, cars that were for people who build 10 foot concrete bridge to elevated glass walled garages. That ended in 2006 when the Ford GT revival was put to rest. Based off the famed Ferrari killed of the 60′s the GT was a 5.4 liter supercharged V8 monster. There were only 4,000 of these super wide works of art ever produced and they have become popular with serious race teams like the Swiss team Matech Competition.

Matech competes in the FIA GT3 racing series in Europe and they have already won a championship with their GT. Even though Ford never intended the GT to be a race car, it was more of a road car that was supposed to look like a race car, the cars are now running down Ferraris like it much older siblings.

With the success it had in GT3 Matech has decided to step up to the GT1 series in a car that may look similar to its GT3 brother but is a totally different monster. The two cars share no parts at all but was developed using all they learned from GT3.

Below is a short clip of the car which is quite nice.
